Here's the last chapter I'll be posting in this series.
It's a different narrator this time - let me know what you think/what your theories are!
Thanks so much to friends, Alek and Lance, for recording this for me!
Here you go! Chapter Four.
There's only one more after this. Thanks so much for following along and giving me your feedback!
And thanks to the amazing Hannah Mary McKinnon for doing such a terrific job of reading them for me!
FYI, Chapter Five has a different narrator, maybe two ;-)
Thanks for coming back for more! If you haven't yet listened to Chapters One and Two, please scroll down to give them a listen first and let me know what you think. Based on feedback I've gotten, I'm already revising and making changes.
Here's Chapter Three. Thanks again to the brilliant Hannah Mary McKinnon for bringing my words to life!
Thanks so much to all of you who listened to Chapter One yesterday - the feedback was wonderful!
Here's Chapter Two.
And again, a huge thank you to the wonderful Hannah Mary McKinnon for recording these for me.
You can pre-order her latest novel here: www.amazon.com/Sister-Dear-Hannah-Mary-McKinnon-ebook/dp/B07VQJR16R/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3IE38L6ON5GLR&keywords=hannah+mary+mckinnon&qid=1585564928&sprefix=Hannah+Mary+Mc%2Caps%2C165&sr=8-2
Some of you know that I've been working on a domestic suspense thriller over the past year and a bit. As is my usual writing process, I rework it with each bit of feedback I get. And this is where it's currently at. I'll be sharing the first few chapters over the next few days, and would love to hear what you think!
These chapters are read by the phenomenal Hannah Mary McKinnon (hannahmarymckinnon.com) who is officially an author (not a voice artist), but I think she's discovered a hidden talent here. She writes amazing books, which you can shop for here:
Look out for Sister Dear which will be out in May. (Now's the best time to pre-order it!) And also look out for her First Chapter Fun series in which she reads the first chapters of various awesome books!
I often get asked which other South African authors or books I'd recommend, so I've put together a list for you. Most of these authors are available on social media, and would be prepared to Skype into book clubs if you reach out to them directly with a request. I'm linking to Amazon purely because most of these books are only available in ebook format in the US, so you probably won't find them at your local indie bookstore, which I'd always prefer you to support:
Keletso Mopai - If You Keep Digging
Nozizwe Duduzile Cynthia Jele - The Ones with Purpose
Niq Mhlongo - various novels
Fred Khumalo - various novels
Siya Khumalo - You Need to be Gay to Know God
Melusi Tshabalala - Melusi's Everyday Zulu
Please look out for any BlackBird Books titles:
And of course, Trevor Noah's Born a Crime is a must read! But I don't think he does book club Skypes. LOL.
I've finished the first draft of my second novel, If You Want to Make God Laugh.
Yes, it's another seven word title - maybe seven's my lucky number?
Though this is not a sequel to HUM, I'm hoping you'll love the three amazing
female protagonists as much as I do.
Plus, you may just see a cameo appearance made by
Robin and Beauty.
This is Eunice.
She inspired the character of Beauty.
She'll be turning 95 on the 8th of May and shares a birthday with Beauty.
Hum If You Don't Know the Words would never have been written without having this amazing woman in my life.
I'm more thankful for her than I could ever say.
